would life slow down?
would I feel more safe in my pain-proof shell?
would I stick my neck out less and avoid vulnerability?
would I hide from the grief that caring about anything inevitably brings?
If I were a turtle…
life would hurry around me and I would miss out on it all
i might feel safe but could anticipate little of joy or laughter
i could risk nothing but also gain nothing
grief may come but with it love and meaning
Silly thoughts for a world that demands our soberness
Silly thoughts when a dear friend is drowning in grief
Silly thoughts as I am often surrounded by crisis
Yet pen to paper somehow lightens the load…
