My Best

This is how I want to remember my Dad.
Celebrating my high school graduation and sending me off to college.
With a smile and a you-got-this nod.
He believed in me.
Through the dark days of my accident and recovery.
And back to college a couple of years later.
Determined to make something of my life.

My Dad was always a scrapper.
Fighting for a better life for his kids than he had.
Not always knowing the best way to accomplish that.
But doing the best he knew how.
And in the end that is all we can do.
I will give it my best – the best I know how…

  1. Mona, I’m Doug Bork, we have never met but I know your mother and father. I just read in the Marion Advertiser that your father passed away. I live in San Antonio, TX and just received the Advertiser today. Let me first extend our condolences to you and the family on the loss of your father, Korny, as I new him. My mother and father, Marjorie and Ruben “Chip” Bork introduced me to your parents many years ago on one of their annual pilgrimages back to Dad’s home Town. After the first trip with them my wife and I would meet them in WI and we all would go around visiting all the relatives there. Yes, we are related. We would visit Nora and Korny in Mission, TX too.
It’s my understanding your mother is no longer at the Aster Assisted Living facility in WI. I’m assuming she is with you in OR. If you don’t mind could I get an address and phone number to reach her? I tracked you down with Yahoo.com. My wife Bonnie and I would like to contact your mother if possible. My e-mail is douglasgbork@sbcglobal.net
Again, we are so saddened to hear of your fathers passing and we send our thoughts and prayers to you, Nora and the whole family.

    1. Hi Doug – Thank you so much for reaching out to us. I will email you my mother’s contact information. With love!
      Mona

  2. Dear Mona,
This is a beautiful tribute to your Dad, filled with God’s grace. And that is where freedom and wisdom soar, lifting you to new heights of compassion. They did the best they could with the resources they were given. You are so right, that is what we all should strive to do. I’m thankful for witnessing your Dad and mom’s commitment to you following your accident. Their dedication as parents to be there/call was a good example for me. Love and hugs to you during this season of loss.
