Living a life of adventure… it is something Vadim has never experienced. As a child he developed cerebral palsy from a head trauma and was given away to a state institution for unwanted children in Southern Russia. The residents never leave the walls of the complex, living, dying and being buried in a cemetery on the grounds. I call it the saddest place on earth.
For a decade or so, one special man, Pasha, has been trying to “adopt” Vadim and give him the chance to live with a loving family. The bureaucracy battle has been fought with prayer and perseverance… and WON last week.
Vadim is ecstatic, but of course very concerned for the friends he has to leave behind in the institution. He has been their leader and champion – and I’m sure will continue to be – along with cajoling others to visit, text and give gifts.
But for Vadim – oh – may the adventures begin…
oh my. Heroes, Pasha is one, along with Vadim. This selfish world is not worthy of them. Thank you, Mona. I love you.
Oh that’s wonderful news, but it really took 10 years?!! That’s terrible.Thank you Mona for bringing this story to light. God bless Vadim, Pasha, and all the children left behind. I think the situation at the institution you described and the bureaucratic quagmire bogging down adoptions deserve a full blown journalistic story and press release. Jmo.
