I love firefighters.
Their toughness. Their courage. Their humanity.
The Oregon Burn Center held an adventure day at a nearby lake over the weekend. Some of our local firefighters lent their cooking and kayaking skills. At Christmas a huge group of them lined the halls of the burn center to sing for the patients and staff. This summer they will be cooking again for our annual picnic in the award-winning OBC garden.
Supporting the very group of folks their job tries to keep from coming into existence.
Some might deem it sadly ironic, but to me it is truly life-giving.
They risk ending up in our shoes every day to protect others.
Tragedy awaits around any corner, but the firefighters mitigate, rescue, support our healing.
We are a grateful community.
