Some weeks can get a little overwhelming when the unexpected storms in or the long-expected finally hits. It blankets our world and leaves us reeling, trying to cope.
The lines from an old hymn that I hadn’t sung since I was probably in grade school struck me this morning:
Jesus, Jesus
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by.
Feeling overlooked or unblessed isn’t uncommon to the human condition. I know I have been there. Many times. And a prayer rises up in me for people I know who are hurting as I pen these words:
Do not pass by a childhood friend who lost his father this week.
Do not pass by a fellow survivor who just found out he is at the end stages of lung disease.
Do not pass by a Russia teammate who is undergoing cancer treatments.
Oh, do not pass them by…
