Facing The Truth

Facing the Truth cover front only

I met Bethany at the Oregon Burn Center through a peer support program. Having seen the news coverage of her story, I didn’t know what to expect. She surprised me. By being very sweet. By being very honest. I immediately knew there was a whole lot more to her life and journey than anyone had been told. The hard work of recovery involves delving through past and present to figure out a way to move forward with life after an injury or trauma. From the perspective of a fellow struggler, telling the truth seemed paramount for Bethany to begin to rebuild her life. So I decided to help. Facing The Truth is available both in paperback and Kindle on Amazon.

Facing The Truth

On August 30, 2010, Bethany Storro did the unthinkable: dousing her own face with acid in a suicide attempt that failed. Trying to hide from the truth, the lies she told became national news. Her journey, penned in these pages, takes the reader into a maze of mental illness, uncovering the history leading up to the tragedy. Bethany’s desire is that others facing similar paths will find help and hope before dire consequences ensue. A compelling look at the underpinnings of the rare Body Dysmorphic Disorder and their long-term effects, Facing The Truth will reveal, educate and inspire.

  1. Merry Christmas To You and Yours Mona!! My name is Adam, And its an honor to write to you on here! I’ve been aware of Bethany’s story since the day that it happened, I even sent her a message on her personal facebook page at the time, saying my Thoughts and Prayers are with her and her family. Even after the truth did come out, my opinion of her did not change. I knew that she would have had to be in a great deal of pain in her life, for her to do something as awful as that to herself. I tried to find a way to reach out to her, and offer support, but her facebook was shut down, (for obvious reasons I’m sure.) I know that some people can be, are, have been and probably always will be cruel to her since this whole thing happened, mainly because people always fail to hear both sides of the story. I’ve never gotten to read her book, but I don’t need to, to know that she is a good person. Please tell her, that I’m on her side and that she has a friend in me, as do you with me. You are a very beautiful and inspirational person Mona. May God Bless and Keep You and Bethany Both Safe. Your Friend Always, Adam

    1. Adam – Thank you for your kind words. I will pass this on to Bethany. Wishing you an awesome 2019! We need more people in the world like you…
